From Event Stages to Dog Bowls: A second act with purpose

Hi, I’m Beth Rees, a lifelong dog lover, seasoned event professional, and the heart behind Nourished Hounds.

For over three decades, I built a career in live events, managing large-scale experiences through my consulting business, REES | The Event Runner.

But after losing two senior dogs within months of each other, I found myself asking hard questions I couldn’t ignore. Could I have done more? Did nutrition play a role? Was there something I missed? What started as heartbreak quickly turned into a mission.

The Dogs Who Changed Everything

Determined to do better for our remaining pup, Minnie, and new rescue, Presley, I dove into the world of canine nutrition. I read and researched until my eyes were crossed, falling into rabbit holes I never knew existed.

I cooked homemade meals. I learned from respected integrative vets like Dr. Judy Morgan, Dr. Lynda Loudon, and Dr. Ruth Roberts. And then came Kady. Our anxious, sensitive rescue, who taught me more than any book ever could.

Today, with four dogs in our pack—including our youngest, Scout, the 6-month-old Texas tornado- I’m more committed than ever to helping other dog guardians navigate the often confusing world of canine wellness.

Because I’ve been there, I still am there. And I know how overwhelming it can feel.

What I Know (and What I’m Still Learning)

I’m not a vet or medical professional. And I’m not here
to tell you there’s only one way to feed your dog. I’m a dog mom who’s seen
firsthand how fresh, real food can change lives, especially when it’s
introduced with curiosity, not perfection.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  • I’ve completed foundational courses in canine nutrition
    from trusted integrative veterinarians
  • I’m a proud member of several educational communities,
including the Dog Mom Society and the College of Integrative
    Veterinary Therapies
  • I’ve followed Dr. Ruth Roberts’ CrockPet
Diet for over a year, feeding homemade meals to dogs ranging from 9 to 67
pounds and from 6 months to almost 16 years old
  • I’m working toward my certification as
    a Professional Canine Nutritionist

More importantly, I approach every dog’s wellness journey
with a deep respect for individuality. I don’t believe in guilt trips or
all-or-nothing thinking. I believe in progress over perfection, and in
helping you feel more confident with every meal.

Why I Started Nourished Hounds

Nourished Hounds was born from the idea that feeding our dogs better shouldn’t be complicated or overwhelming.

I started by making my own fresh toppers and treats in small batches at home. Soon, it became clear I wasn’t alone: other pup parents wanted clean, nourishing, real-food options too. So I created Kady’s Kitchen, the product arm of Nourished Hounds, where every treat and topper is made by hand, using ingredients I trust in my own home.

But Nourished Hounds isn’t just about products. It’s about education, encouragement, and community. Through our upcoming workshops (Fresh Tracks), curated bundles, and custom meal plans, I’m building a space where dog guardians can learn, ask questions, and feel supported.

What We Believe

  • No shame, no overwhelm—just small, thoughtful steps toward better bowls
  • If it wouldn’t go in our bowl, it doesn’t go in theirs
  • Education matters, but so does heart
  • Every dog deserves to be nourished, not just fed

What’s Next

  • In early 2026, we’re expanding to offer:
  • In-person workshops for hands-on learning
  • Custom meal prep services for local customers
  • Monthly subscriptions and bundles to keep your pantry stocked
  • And of course, more tail-waggin’ goodness from the Pup-Up Shoppe, our mobile treat trailer serving the Cincinnati area

Let’s Feed Better—Together

Whether you’re here to grab a treat, top off the bowl, or take a fresh look at canine nutrition, I’m so glad you’re here. Nourished Hounds is more than a brand; it’s a community. And we would be honored to have you be a part of it.

Meet The Dogs

The real taste-testers behind Nourished Hounds.

Because every good idea needs a quality control team, and
ours has four paws and strong opinions—especially the little one.

  • Minnie

Senior queen • 15+ years old • Chihuahua mix

Minnie is the wise elder of the pack. She’s living proof that a little real food goes a long way. Her coat looks fantastic for a senior girl, and she still gets the zoomies. She isn’t large, but make no mistake, she’s in charge! Anyone with a Chihuahua understands.

  • Presley

Only boy • 3ish years old • Super Mutt Mix

Presley is a total prince. He’s sweet, charming, and eager to please. And I am his human. We adopted him from The League for Animal Welfare, and he’s our third “League” dog. Truth be told, he’s not picky and will eat just about anything.

  • Kady

Fearful and Sensitive • 3ish years old • True Hound Dog

We adopted Kady from Save The Animal Foundation (STAF). She was afraid of pretty much everything. She’s certainly not fearless, but she’s come a long way since she joined our pack. Now she dances with joy and excitement when it’s chow time.

  • Scout

The New Girl • 6 months old • Texas Heeler

The newest and most energetic member of the pack. She has boundless energy and is as smart as a whip. Scout’s still learning the ropes, but she’s already proving that feeding real food from the start sets the stage for a strong, healthy life. Don’t let her sweet little face fool you. She’s a handful, but so much fun.
